Use this size with 6" high flat front mantels
We had a hard time finding stocking hooks that would fit our new hand hewn mantel which is only 6" tall. Thankfully, these arrived in time for us to enjoy a few days before Christmas when ones from a big online conglomerate failed to send the right size. (They wouldn't have worked anyway at 8" because of the hook bend.) These are well made, made in the USA which is SO rare these days and look nice. Our only gripe is the flat section that sits on top of the mantel is short so don't knock into your stockings and hold the top when hanging them full. An extra 2" would go a long way in solving that problem but they still get the job done especially if that's not a particularly high traffic area for you.
