What is a Counter Stool?

A counter stool may have a pedestal, 3-leg or 4-leg base and a seat that is approximately 24-26" from the floor. In addition, counter stools are designed with arms or no arms, backrest or no backrest and swivel or stationary seats.

What height counter stool do I need to purchase?

Choose a stool that fits the height of your counter, usually 35-39-in. height from floor to dining surface. As a general rule of thumb for maximum comfort, the distance between the stool's seat and your counter surface should be 9 to 12 inches. That measurement remains the same no matter the counter or table height.

How do I know the number of counter stools to buy?

To figure out the optimal number of stools that will fit at your counter, measure how much space you have to work with. Then remember counter stools with arms and backrests require approximately 21-30-in. of space because the arms and backrests make them wider. Additionally, counter stools without backs or arms need 18-21-in. of space.

Here are two tips for general spacing of counter stools:

Allow 4-6-in. between counter stools for comfort and room for guests to get out.
Measure 25 to 30" from the center of one stool to the mid-point of the next seat.

They're easy to clean. Use warm soapy water on the iron, rinse and dry well. Never use harsh chemicals on any part of your counter stools. Vacuum cloth seats with a gentle touch. Care for leather and leather-like upholstery as you would any leather, using high quality products. For a quick dusting, use a soft lint-free cloth.
